What are natural resins?
Incense resins are natural substances such as frankincense, copal and myrrh which are harvested from gum trees. The resin is obtained from living trees via ‘tapping’. This is done sustainably to ensure that the tree continues to thrive. René Schönefeld’s natural resins originate from Europe, Africa and Asia. The resins are used in many religious and spiritual ceremonies. They are also burned for mediation and relaxation purposes. Most people are familiar with incense sticks, however, natural resins are the original incense and give off a richer and deeper fragrance.
What are incense mixtures?
René Schönefeld’s incense mixtures are created of the best natural resins sourced from Europe, Africa and Asia. Together they produce deep and rich fragrances. These aromatic blends are used often in religious ceremonies or for mediation and relaxation purposes. All the natural resins used in our unique incense blends are for sale on the website.
Why do I need charcoal?
Tree resins and their unique blends do not burn on their own, which is why charcoal tabs are needed to burn the incense. Charcoal tablets are suitable for spiritual and relaxation occasions. The tablets are not available on René Schönefeld’ website. However, quick-lighting charcoal tabs from Three Kings are the most fitting for burning our incense mixtures and natural resins.
How do I burn natural resins and incense mixtures?
To burn natural resins and their special blends you need an incense burner, a quick-lighting charcoal tab, a pair of tongs and a lighter or a match. Incense burners have many types of forms and materials used. Each burner is used for different purposes. For example, copper and steel incense burners are frequently used by religious ceremonies. For yoga and mediation purposes, clay and glass incense burners are very popular.
- Three steps to burning incense: Place the charcoal tab in the incense burner and hold the flame to the charcoal tab.
- When the tablet ignites, sparkles will be transverted through the whole charcoal tab. A grey and ashy soot will cover the red-hot glowing tablet indicating it is ready to use.
- Spread the natural resins on top of the charcoal tab by using a small spoon. Soon you are enjoying the exotic fragrance released by the natural resins.
After use, make sure you immerse the remains of the charcoal tab in water. It’s advisable to keep charcoal tabs out of reach from children.
